In addition to the group’s regular painting days which are untutored, regular workshops are also organised throughout the year. These are conducted by local professional artists to introduce a variety of styles and mediums for both members and non-members. Some of our previous workshops have been held by Catherine Pilgrim, Daniel Butterworth and Helen Cottle.
Pastel Workshop with Lyne Diefenbach – Friday 22nd Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th October
Our second Watercolour Workshop with John Orlando Birt held on Tuesday, 29th June was another great success.
Held at our regular venue, the Red Brick Hall in Kyneton, our members found John’s workshop to be enjoyable and informative.
Here are a few photos of John and his fabulous watercolour paintings.
About John Orlando Birt
John was born in Broken Hill NSW and was educated in Adelaide South Australia where he attended the South Australian School of Art, studying Fine Art and Art History.
He is now a fulltime exhibiting artist, residing in Melbourne. He is predominately a plein air painter, preferring to paint outdoors which enables him to engage and be inspired in real time with his subjects.
He has held 25 solo exhibitions and been included in many group shows in which he has been recognised with many awards and prizes.
Group Participation Art
As well as professional and in-house workshops the Kyneton Art Group enjoy having fun and learning through exercises in “Group Participation Art”. Previous to the COVID-19 lockdown, the group looked at how each individual interprets a subject, the use of a refined choice of colours and mediums and then how to crop their art. The members cropped art pieces were then compiled into a group of contemporary artworks, with everyone expanding their knowledge whilst enjoying the process and being very happy with the finished piece.
Previous workshop was conducted by Stephanie Goss which was well attended and enjoyed by members and attendees. Here are some of our photos from Stephanie’s workshop.
