Jeanine Kolasa-King

After having a break from practicing art due to work and family commitments, I discovered  Kyneton Art Group, July 2025. It is  a terrific place to meet fellow artists and  practice art. In my career I attended R.M.I.T Fine Arts at Latrobe University, Bendigo.  I studied art therapy and have discovered how beneficial the creative arts can be for people of all ages and abilities.

From a young age I loved drawing and observing nature. I grew up in Frankston near the sea and always felt a connection to the ocean and the environment. I  lived in Melbourne for many years before moving to Kyneton in 2007. Living on a beautiful part of the land, I am continuously inspired by the natural surroundings and walks along the river.

Seascapes and landscapes capture a fleeting impression of light, colour and energy, particularly at dawn or dusk,- the “golden hour” of sunsets.  To best capture these, I experiment with a variety of mixed media.

Since joining KAG, I have explored water colour painting, en plein-air painting and rekindled a love for drawing portraits with charcoal and pastels.

After achieving a highly commended award at the 2025 Kyneton Art Group Exhibition, three artworks sold which was most encouraging.
